When native son Elgin Lumpkin released his first CD, Ginuwine...the Bachelor, he once again reaffirmed that the metro area is a hot bed of talent. Produced by Timbaland, the album was an intoxicating blend of soulful beats with a heavy dose of danceable hip hop jams. Couple that with Ginuwine's smooth moves and drop dead good looks and Ginuwine...the Bachelor reached double platinum status thanks to the No. 1 single "Pony."

Ginuwine's newest release, The Life is scheduled to hit record stores April 12. The collection features the return of prolific beat-maker Timbaland producing some tracks, as well as Ludacris, Raphael Saadiq, and others. The first single, "There It Is," is already in rotation on radio.

Area fans of the homey will get to see him perform live on April 5 at Nation. This is part of a mini nine-city tour to promote the CD's release.

Ginuwine began his music career with the amateur hip hop group Finesse Five and later sang for another local band called Physical Wonder. Devante Swing, a member of the group Jodeci, discovered him. And with his debut in 1996 the persona Ginuwine, was created - a down-to-earth and authentic talent.
