**EDITORAL CONTENT
I really enjoy reading your newsletter, even though I live in Ohio. I am especially glad to be getting it on my personal email address. I was getting it on my business address. Keep up the good work. -- Connie Quarles

M.C.: Thanks Connie, we aim to please.

There are a few websites out there that provide information about what's happening in the DC area, but where black people are concerned, none of them do as comprehensive a job as Metro Connection. I really look forward to each issue because I know I'm going to get useful information. Peace! -- A. Smith

M.C.: As our banner suggests, we truly are striving to become metro D.C.'s most comprehensive `Guide to Arts, Entertainment and Black People's Culture.'

I guess this is a compliment but while some of your writers do irritate me, I also like the fact that they seem to be on the pulse of what's going on. -- Kwame W.

M.C.: Kwame, our writers welcome any comments you may have about any of their stories. Let the dialogue begin!

**UJAMAA BLACK BUSINESS DIRECTORY
I keep checking the Ujamaa Directory yet it still says 'coming soon.' What's up with that? -- K.V. Brown

M.C.: We like the fact that you are so interested in supporting black business. However, we're still working out some technical/content issues and expect to have this situation revolved very soon. Expect to see the directory up no later than August 2001.

**JEFF MAJORS (http://www.metroconnection.info/pjmajors.htm)
Thanks for your article on Mr. Jeff Majors. I am absolutely thrilled to have found his music and your site. His music is wonderful for engaging in routine day to day endeavors. I would be interested in his future engagements, in particular in the Atlanta, Georgia area, and Southern/Northern California.

I tell everyone who will listen about this young man's music. The "Harp" is a virtual secret waiting to be exposed, and Mr. Majors has done an excellent release of a most profound sound. His music is excellent, soothing and has the spiritual sounds to guide one beyond the veil during their meditation.

There is another artist that I have heard little about. I would like to know if you have any information regarding Ms. Karen Meeks. I think this is the correct name. At any rate she is a violinist that plays with Yanni. She is awesome.

Again, thanks for allowing me to make these requests and for your time.

Sincerely,
Ms. Dee Brandon

M.C.: Jeff Majors is certainly helping to introduce new audiences to the beauty of the harp. And in naming his harp Hanifa, he also makes it clear that it an instrument rooted in African culture.

The violin virtuoso who has performed with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Vinx, Stanley Clarke and Yanni is Karen Briggs who hails from Portsmouth, Va., about three hours down the road from the nation's capital. Her last performance in the area was at the Kennedy Center, part of the Billy Taylor Jazz Series. Then she was shared that she was working with the group VERTU (which includes Briggs, Stanley Clarke, Lenny White, Rachel Z and Ritchie Kotzen) on a self-titled album. She has also appeared on the following recordings: "Music of the Heart", Soundtrack, (1999); Concerto in D mi. for 2 vlns, Bach, with Joshua Bell, Itzhak Perlman, Isaac Stern, Mark O'Connor, Sandra Park; San Rafael 560, Daniel de los Reyes, (1999); Tribute, Yanni, Virgin Records (1997); Crossroads, with Nicholas Gunn- Real Music(1996); Afro-Latin Jazz & Salsa (1994); From The Edge: Afro-Latin Jazz, Vol. IV (1994); Live At The Acropolis, Yanni, (1994); In My Time, Yanni, (1993) and Summer Rapture (1990). Her solo recording Amazing Grace (Dimi Music) was released in 1996.
