Once again the National Council of Negro Women will focus our attention on
the historic strengths and traditional values of the African-American family
with the 16th annual staging of the Black Family Reunion Sept. 8-9 on the
National Monument Grounds in Washington, D.C. More than 15 million people
have joined in the celebrations in seven major cities over the 16-year
history of the event.
The culturally-grounded program is life affirming. It combines information,
entertainment, health checks, exhibits and much more. Themed pavilions will
focus on areas such as: Healthy Mother-Healthy Babies; Children, Teens, Young
Adults, the Workforce; Fathers, Sons and Brothers; Health; Education, Poetry
and more. The pavilions are open from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.
The opening ceremony for this family celebration is an Ecumenical Prayer
Breakfast to be held Saturday, September 8 at 8:30 a.m. Guest Speakers will
include Rev. Dr. Grainger Browning, Jr. and Rev. Dr. Jo Ann Browning with a
musical performance by the gospel group, Virtue. For tickets and information
